"It is my dream that students will experience their classrooms as reviving and inspiring learning environments where they will come to love
the process of learning itself by making it their own." Salesian College
welcome to my site!
Created on the 4th of June 2011
Hi! My name is Lucie Ptackova, a graduate secondary teacher from Deakin University in Melbourne. I have just finished my second teaching round and, equipped with dozens of photos and videos, and new ideas in my mind after the fantastic experience, I decided to document all of it and make it accessible to everyone.
I have to admit that it wasn't just the professional experience that motivated me to go public. There were various events and functions which I decided to attend for my professional development which completely changed my way of thinking about teaching and gave a rise to my new teaching philosophy.
I have designed this website. For all of us, current and evolving teachers who are passionate about and inspired by our profession. For us who teach not just to deliver but to learn and evaluate. For us who don't just acknowledge a student's personal or academic achievement but who celebrate it. Those of you who firmly believe that teaching goes beyond what most people think teaching is, you are invited to stay and be part of my learning journey.

Teaching and Learning with A Purpose
Just like learning to be a better teacher is a never-ending growing process (up to the point where we decide to retire), I too hope that this site will grow in its content, depth and quality of insightful reflections. It is for this reason that I created Lifelong Learning and Teaching. I want to keep learning and never stop so I can be a better teacher every day. And as I keep learning, I happen to have these waves of insight that every now and then strike me. And that's when I access this site and write furiously all that's on my mind. All that makes so much sense!! Purpose, Insight and Reflection.
About Lifelong Learning and Teaching
Should teachers be lifelong learners as well as students? My answer is YES!! Teaching and Learning go hand in hand. Here are some great reasons (food for thought) I came up with:
Why Do I Want to Be a Lifelong Learning Teacher?

About Lifelong Learning and Teaching
Should teachers be lifelong learners as well as students? My answer is YES!! Teaching and Learning go hand in hand. Here are some great reasons (food for thought) I came up with:
- keeping up with what is current in education is a must to be the best possible teacher
- good has never been good enough, we can always do better
- learning increases confidence and improves brain stimulation
- having learnt something that may work brings about motivation / eagerness to try it in practice
- being really passionate about what we teach also means wanting to find out more about it
Why Do I Want to Be a Lifelong Learning Teacher?
- Because learning is interesting and keeps me alive. Stagnation is boring. I am also naturally curious.
- I am fascinated by all the things that I don't know and I become amazed when thinking that I CAN learn all these things.
- I think there is always more to know about students, and yes I DO like and care about my students!!!
- If I want to be a teacher, I also need to be a learner if I want to encourage the love for learning in my students
- How can I not be a lifelong learner? My learning brings about success in students' learning, and students' success is also my success.
Why do YOU want to be a lifelong learning teacher?
