knowing how students learn
Learning Style Inventory and Study Techniques Questionnaire
I use learning style inventories such as VAK or Gardener's Multiple Intelligence inventory and study technique questionnaires to gain an insight into HOW my students learn and therefore WHAT teaching techniques should I, as a teacher, use to accommodate student learning preferences, abilities and needs. For instance, if the most popular classroom activities amongst students are classroom discussions, watching DVD’s/YouTube clips and practical activities, whereas the most preferred study techniques are summary worksheets, study notes and revision worksheets, I design and teach my subsequent lessons with these targeted activities in mind.
Standard 1: Know students and how they learn
Focus areas: 1.2, 1.5
